Today, I want to talk about some coffee mugs I made for my husband. I messed some of the gifts I bought him in the past I will admit. But, the gifts I got him are still in the house. I have a good head on what I’m talking about. For next Father’s Day and husband birthday, I decided to make him a coffee mug. He didn’t decline it, so I continued.
Now, getting my husband a good gift is tricky for me. I never know what to get him and everything I think he needs seem to already be in his pocket. My husband has a lot of things already. He had so many gifts given to him. I have to be careful about what I choose to get him. He has some coffee mugs already too, so I got to find coffee mug sayings for dad that he never had before. Well, I will get to the bottom of it and tell you what happened. Here is what worked and what didn’t work for making a coffee gift.
What Didn’t Work for Making A Coffee Cup
Don’t laugh when I tell you that I decided to use painter’s tape to make words on a coffee cup. It wasn’t even a real coffee cup. It was a small white cup I saw lying around the house. Anyway, I took that small cup and put some tape on it. I was trying to make out some words. The words I was trying to say was “Number 1 Husband” husband. This is one of the many generic coffee mug sayings for dad, but my husband does not have a husband coffee cup.
I was going to color the DIY cup’s tape with a sharpie marker. The process started out fine. The color went on the tape and everything looked good. That was my original assumption. Then it happened, the color started to fade off and smear on the cup. I looked at the cup in disgust. It didn’t look like a nice gift after a few seconds of use. There was something off with it. Never use tape to write words on a DIY cup.
What Did Work for Making a Coffee Cup
After taking time out to think about the first mistake, I thought it would be good to make a coffee cup with foam stickers. Its strange I didn’t think of it sooner. A lot of good things in my life started with a mistakes not that I think about it. Furthermore, I use the foam sticker because they had shapes that can be put on the mug. I decided to put a heart shape on the mug and use a sharpie marker to write things. I am not the best of writers, but I wrote something my husband would like.
My husband saw the final product and loved it. He told me it was nice to see some creativity. I never heard my husband say that before. I felt different at those moments. I think its those moments when you give someone a gift that makes it worth it. If you plan to make a DIY coffee mug, then I suggest you do what works for me. It made my husband happy and maybe it will make the person your trying to impress happy.
